My dream bag

've always dreamed of owning a lovely real leather bag. I'd have got one ages ago if it weren't for the cost of the size of bag I'd want to carry the huge amount of kit and caboodle I seem to feel the need to carry around with me everywhere I go.  My perfect bag would be a big, vintage looking satchel and, time and time again, I've walked into shops and looked online at bags I longed to own but just couldn't justify the price of.

Just before Easter, I discovered Scaramanga, an absolute Aladdin's cave of beautiful leather bags, satchels, notebooks and accessories. I knew my moment to own my dream bag had arrived and the only decision left to make was which one. I was torn between this

the medium overlander  or a smaller satchel.

I  wanted to invest in a bag that I could use every day for every purpose and wondered if this bag would be too big to cart around on the rare days it would be half empty. But then, I didn't want to get a bag and then have to carry round an extra one.

In the end, I tool the pluge and bought this more roomy one and haven't regretted it for a second.

As a freelance writer, I can't afford to stop work over the school holidays. When I take workshops, my son William has to come with me and he doesn't travel light. As well as a haul of books, DVD player and DVD to keep him busy while we're writing, he also needs a small cupboard's worth of medical bits and pieces, such as stoma bags, tubes, medications, wipes....

Over the Easter holidays, we well and truly put the bag through it's paces, fitting in all of this...

as well as the medical stuff and snacks. It's fantastic to have a bag that carries my books, his toys and games and the other paraphernalia and that looks so good too. It's made from vintage styled leather so already has character from it's flaws which means it doesn't get harmed from sticky fingers and being caught in the rain - essential with children around and living in the UK climate.

I've found my dream bag and at a wonderfully affordable price. Do check out the Scaramanga website for more alluring products and,  if you pop over the Facebook page, you may even win one.

The Undateables

I wonder what other parents with special needs children thought about tonight's Channel 4 show - 'The Undateables.'
I've posted about it over on my other blog here.
I'd love to know what you thought.
